Julio “Johnny” Lucas Carlos, 95, of Pahoa died Aug. 5 at home. Born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired farmer for Puna Flowers &Foliage, laborer for the former Puna Sugar Co., landscaper and maintenance worker. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Casual attire. Survived by children, Robert (Agnes) Carlos of Waimea, Mila Becker of Virginia, Rose (Alan) Takahata of Nevada, Remey (Charles) De Leon of California, Ronella (Gregory) Bidad of Pahoa and Rebecca (Gilbert) Javier of Nevada; daughter-in-law, Zenaida Carlos of Waikoloa; brother, Melecio Carlos, Sr. of Kailua-Kona; 13 grandchildren. William “Bill” “Casey” Newton Case

William “Bill” “Casey” Newton Case, 91, of Waimea died Aug. 16, at Queen’s North Hawai‘i Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala, he retired as water superintendent at Parker Ranch and was an honorary member of Mauna Kea Education and Awareness. Roberto “J.R.” John Ricardo

Roberto “J.R.” John Ricardo Lanake Segobia, 32, of Hilo died June 14 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a cook at Tacos Jalisco food truck in Hilo. Chizu A. Nakashima

Chizu A. Nakashima , 90, of Captain Cook died July 10 at Kona Community Hospital. She was retired from the Department Of Social Services and Housing, now known as Department Of Human Services, a member of the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Buddhist Women’s Association, Project Dana, JIHO newspaper and Akitsu Kumiai. Visitation at 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 14) at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple with services to follow at 4 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Gene Nakashima of Captain Cook; daughter, Lisa Ciriako of Captain Cook; grandsons Davis Nakashima (Rachel Omija) of Captain Cook and Jordan Ciriako of Honolulu; great-granddaughter, Elsea Nakashima of Captain Cook; siblings, Suga Suzuki of Kailua Kona and Shunji Adachi of Moanalua; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
